I have been posting a “Super Canadian Baseball Stat of the Day” on my Facebook, X and BlueSky accounts.

I wanted to share them from the past week, in case you don’t use social media.

March 10

Joey Votto (Etobicoke, Ont.) led the National League in on-base percentage (OBP) in seven seasons. The only other players to lead a major league in OBP in more seasons:

–Ted Williams (12)

–Barry Bonds (10)

–Babe Ruth (10)

–Rogers Hornsby (9)

March 11

In 128 games with the New York Yankees in 1939, George Selkirk (Huntsville, Ont.) posted a .452 OBP. That was second in the American League to Jimmie Fox (.464) and better than the OBPs registered by Joe DiMaggio (.448) and Ted Williams (.436).

March 12

Chicago Cubs right-hander Fergie Jenkins (Chatham, Ont.) had six consecutive 20-win seasons from 1967 to 1972. No MLB pitcher has had six consecutive 20-win seasons since.

March 13

Brandon, Man., native Russ Ford’s rookie season with the New York Highlanders (later Yankees) in 1910:

• 36 games (33 starts)
• 26-6
• 1.65 ERA
• 29 complete games
• 8 shutouts
• 299 2/3 innings pitched
• 209 strikeouts
• 11.4 WAR (led AL)

March 14

Larry Walker (Maple Ridge, B.C.) had three, three-home run games as a member of the Colorado Rockies. None of them came at Coors Field.
