Official Canadian Baseball Network News Release

Toronto, Ont. – The Canadian Baseball Network (CBN) announced its 2024 Canadian College Player of the Year and its 25th annual All-Canadian College teams on Tuesday.

Jackson Soucie (Cambridge, Ont.), a dominant starting pitcher for the Wabash Valley Warriors in the spring, has been voted CBN’s College Player of the Year. The 6-foot-4 left-hander received first-place votes on 39 of 55 ballots cast by a large panel of scouts, coaches, executives, former players and baseball writers.

Soucie becomes the first player from Wabash Valley College, who compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), to win the award.

The 21-year-old lefty posted an 8-2 record and a 2.18 ERA, while striking out 98 in 70 1/3 innings, in 14 starts for the Warriors in 2024.

Among Canadian NJCAA Div. 1 pitchers, Soucie ranked second in strikeouts, third in ERA, fourth in wins and sixth in innings pitched. For his efforts, the Grand River Flying Squirrels alum was named Great Rivers Athletic Conference and Region 24 Pitcher of the Year.

The left-handed starter, who just completed his sophomore year at Wabash Valley College, has since transferred to the University of South Carolina (NCAA Div. 1).

Soucie also claimed the starting left-handed pitcher’s position on CBN’s All-Canadian First Team. He is one of four players from Ontario on the squad. The First Team also boasts two players each from B.C. and Quebec and one each from Alberta, Nova Scotia and Saskatchewan.

The Canadian Baseball Network’s 25th annual All-Canadian First Team (as noted below) consists of six NCAA players, five NJCAA players and one NAIA player.

The players on the All-Canadian teams represent the best of the 1,104 Canadians that played the majority of their schedule south of the border in 2024.
