Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame presents Tip O’Neill award to Votto and Axford

Last Thursday, the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame presented Etobicoke, Ont., native Joey Votto with the 2011 Tip O’Neill Award in Cincinnati prior to the Reds’ afternoon match-up with the St. Louis Cardinals. Votto shared the accolade with Milwaukee Brewers closer John Axford, who hails from Port Dover, Ont., who was honoured by the Hall prior to a game in Milwaukee last Tuesday (photo below).

The Tip O’Neill Award is presented annually by the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame to the player judged to have excelled in individual achievement and team contribution while adhering to baseball’s highest ideals.

  1. What a fantastic trip. And we stopped at the Cubs game between these two games. 2200km of driving in 3 days! Nothing better. Thanks Kevin.
