Dickson recalls Edmonds making “greatest catch ever”
It has been called the greatest catch in major league history. Jason Dickson agrees with that assessment and he might be the best person to judge. After all, the Miramichi, N.B., native was the California Angels pitcher on June 10, 1997 when with two outs and runners on first and second in the bottom of the fifth inning, Kansas City Royals outfielder David Howard belted one of his curveballs deep into centre field at Kauffman Stadium, well over the head of outfielder Jim Edmonds.

Two former big league pitchers, a legendary Toronto Blue Jays outfielder and a grassroots coach and executive who has devoted seven decades to baseball have been elected to the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. Former Montreal Expos left-hander Denis Boucher (Montreal, Que.), ex-Oakland A’s right-hander Rich Harden (Victoria, B.C.) and rifle-armed ex-Blue Jays right fielder Jesse Barfield will be inducted in a ceremony at the Hall of Fame grounds in St. Marys, Ont., on June 17. Longtime Manitoba baseball coach and executive Joe Wiwchar will also be inducted.

Loewen attempting comeback to play in World Baseball Classic, don’t bet against him
Junior National Team alum and former big league left-hander Adam Loewen (Surrey, B.C.) will attempt a comeback to play for Canada at the World Baseball Classic. The 38-year-old left-hander hasn’t thrown a pitch or hit in an international competition for Canada since 2019, but given his track record, no one should bet against him.
