Quantrill to start for Canada against Cuba in win-or-go-home WBC game

It’s a win or go home game for Canada and manager Ernie Whitt is handing the ball to Cal Quantrill. The veteran right-hander will start against Cuba today at 3 p.m. E.T. at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico in the final game of Pool A play.

Blue Jays come up short against Red Sox, despite Barger’s slam 

Addison Barger hit another grand slam for the Toronto Blue Jays.  No, it wasn’t as important as his history-making pinch-hit blast in the sixth inning of Game 1 of the 2025 World Series, but it accounted for almost all of the Blue Jays’ offence in their 7-6 loss to the Boston Red Sox in front of 5,943 fans at TD Ballpark in Dunedin, Fla., on Monday.

It was a game to watch the Toronto Blue Jays prospects shine.  And fittingly the Blue Jays’ 7-5 win over the Philadelphia Phillies in front of 6,081 fans at TD Ball Park in Dunedin, Fla., on Saturday ended with a diving catch by right-fielder R.J. Schreck on a deep fly ball hit by Phillies prospect Keaton Anthony.
